THOFU (Tecnologías del HOtel del FUturo)

El proyecto THOFU (Tecnologías para el HOtel del FUturo) tiene por objetivo fundamental avanzar el estado del arte de un conjunto de tecnologías emergentes de edificación, sensorización, información y comunicaciones, e interacción, de previsible gran potencial de impacto en el sector turístico y, en particular, en el avance de nuevos conceptos de alojamiento para el viajero. Su objetivo último es sentar las bases tecnológicas para el desarrollo de un nuevo concepto de hotel en todas sus dimensiones, que permita, haciendo atractiva y diferente la oferta, abordar los aspectos de estacionalidad y fidelización de los viajeros. Las tecnologías en las que se centra THOFU presentan retos de investigación e ingeniería considerables, que en muchos casos requieren la colaboración activa de investigadores procedentes de distintas disciplinas.

El elemento aglutinador de THOFU es la infraestructura hotelera; los activos tecnológicos resultado del proyecto, después de las necesarias fases de industrialización (que no son objeto de este proyecto), permitirán articular un nuevo concepto de hotel. El hotel del futuro - aumentado, sensitivo y sostenible- pondrá a disposición de sus huéspedes un espacio capaz de adaptarse a las singularidades y necesidades específicas de cada cliente (situación física, características culturales o necesidades derivadas de su estado de salud o de ánimo, por ejemplo), combinando nuevas ideas y tecnologías para el diseño de espacios con la posibilidad de, permanentemente, aumentar el conocimiento sobre el visitante para crear ofertas de servicios avanzados y mejorar la interacción.

THOFU es un proyecto financiado por el CDTI en la convocatoria CENIT 2010. En él participan 34 instituciones. Entre los socios universitarios GPDS-CEDITEC tiene una participación muy relevante en los aspectos de redes de sensores, servicios en movilidad e interacción avanzada.

The main objective of the THOFU project (Technologies for the HOtel of the FUture) is to advance the state-of-the-art of several emerging technologies related to construction, sensing, information and communications and interaction, which have a great potential impact in the tourist sector, and, in particular, in the advance of new accommodation concepts for the tourist. Its final goal is to lay the technological foundations for the development of a new concept of hotel, which allows dealing with tourist seasonality and loyalty programs by making attractive and different offers. The technologies considered by THOFU present important research and engineering challenges and, in many cases, require an active collaboration between researchers of different fields.

The central element of THOFU is the hotel infrastructure; the technology assets that will result from the project, after the necessary industrialization phases (which are not the object of this project), will enable to build a new concept of hotel. The hotel of the future will be augmented, sensible and sustainable. It will put at the disposal of its guests a space able to adapt to the singularities and specific needs of each client (for example, physical status, cultural characteristics or needs related to the health status or mood). And it will combine new ideas and technologies to design spaces which are able to continuously increase the knowledge about the visitor in order to create advanced services offers and improve interaction

The THOFU project is financed by the CDTI in the 2010 CENIT call and has 34 participating institutions. Among the university partners GPDS-CEDITEC has a very relevant participation in several aspects dealing with sensor networks, mobility services and advanced interaction.
